The Further Adventures of Harper Shaw!

Four hours.

Four hours ago Bobby Cahn had walked in, ready for another night's work, shmoozing the rich folks.  He laughed at their jokes, danced with their women, thanked them for this 'hot tip' or that 'inside information', drank their liquor and ate their food.  He'd gotten himself a bit tipsy, and when the 'heiress' had invited him down to the short rocky beach he almost fell over himself in his eagerness to follow.

When she claimed to hail from old soviet manufacturing money, Bobby kept his scoff to himself - she looked every bit like he expected the girls working her father's fish-canning plants in Estonia might, but with slightly better wardrobe and a pound more makeup.  She was a nice enough girl, but not smart enough to take her high heels off when she started to dash across the pebbles toward the water.  Down she went after only three yards, just too far out of reach to be caught or steadied, but then again that wasn't in the plan...

Notes from Adrastos' Journal...

...and no, you don't have a copy of it.  Yet.

Adamantine Arrow - Personnel/imprisonment
Free Council - Appeals
Guardians of the Veil - Investigation, confiscation, arrest
Mysterium - Advisement in each step, final disposition of material
Silver Ladder- Judgement

Complaint is made

GotV - investigate: broad but not totalitarian powers of questioning, confiscate items of interest to the particular charges.   Arrest the individual the charges are brought against and place them in Arrow custody.
AA - Secure the accused in whatever manner is appropriate without excessive cruelty.

SL - Preside over the courtly proceedings, rendering a decision on behalf of the consililum.
GotV - Present the Consilium's case against the accused in an honest and forthright manner.

FC - Review the proceedings and ensure that fairness and justice were a forethought throughout.  The FC may call for a mistrial, and all material and accused will be remanded to the Mysterium and Arrow respectively until another trial can be reconvened.
Mys - Take custody of all material introduced in the proceedings for storage and security.
AA - Take custody of all convicts and ensure that judgement is carried out.  This is not to be unduly expedited so as to render the FC "appeal" moot; it will take place once their review is certified.

A brief history blurb from a Mage character.  Not to be used IC, please!

We never talked about it
But I hear the blame was mine
Id call you up to say Im sorry
But I wouldnt want to waste your time

It was summer.  The fields outside of Fargo shimmered in the heat, the air hot and heavy with the lack of water that season.  He had murmured softly in her ear, speaking in their language - the words that Fritz could not understand.

"Do you remember the first night we met, Marcella...?"

cos I love you, but I cant take any more
Theres a look I cant describe in your eyes
Yes we could try, like we tried before
When you kept on telling me those lies

As the stepped out into the field, he allowed the telepathy to join them, his eyes meeting hers as he bent to brush her lips one last time.  With that, they seperated, moving silently through the fields.  The target was ahead of them, the sky already darkening as the Scelesti's words carried over the breeze.

" my Aunt's farm...your Grandmother and my Aunt just knew that we would be perfect you remember that?  What you said to me, when they told you?"

Do you remember...?

"You told me that you would never let them determine your path, you would never let another person determine your fate.  Do you still think they did...?"

There seemed no way to make up
cos it seemed your mind was set
And the way you looked it told me
Its a look I know Ill never forget

She shuddered as the snow began to fly around them, the world darkening in moments.  She could sense the two Arrow around her - Fritz to her left and him to her right...both of them slightly ahead of her, protecting the young Mage as best they could.

You couldve come over to my side
You couldve let me know
You couldve tried to see the distance between us
But it seemed too far for you to go.

"It isn't about them, you know...I love you because you are you.  You know that, right?"

Do you remember...?

She pulled her knives, shivering, waiting to see her target.  The goal was to neutralize them - with whatever means necessary...

Through all of my life
In spite of all the pain
You know people are funny sometimes
cos they just cant wait
To get hurt again

"I can't imagine my life without you..."

Do you remember...?

"Will you marry me?  I know now isn't the best time...but will you?"

There are things we wont recall
Feelings well never find
Its taken so long to see it
Cos we never seemed to have the time

It all ended before she'd really realized it started.  Fritz lying motionless to the side.  Her hands covered in blood...though she would never be able to tell you whose blood it was.  A dead scelesti before her, his chest opened as his blue eyes glazed over.

And him...her love...

She could hear the gasping from the wound, the wound that had laid his chest open.  He turned to look at her, his mouth moving as he struggled to speak, his hand reaching for her.  It was like moving in a dream, as she ran to his side, holding his head against her chest, murmuring softly in Romani.

"I love you dearest, I love you...I'm so sorry...I'm so sorry..."

There was always something more important to do
More important to say
But I love you wasnt one of those things
And now its too late

He grabbed her hand, hard, his eyes burning as he pushed his thoughts into her mind.

Do you remember...?

"Don't forget me...please..."

A transcription...

Feel free to use this ICly in Awakening as an IC document.  No, it isn't official in any way, but neither is the bible.

In the beginning, there were the Aeon: the sum total of all reality. It was formless and void, and this void was empty yet at the same time it was full. Full of potential that was yet to pass.
Fate was first, fortelling of comings and determining destiny's path. Then a single speck came to be, Matter, which was the sum of everything. As it existed Time and Space came to be, as even the tiniest grain has length and breadth and height and duration. The speck grew, having nothing else to do, and as things in this Aeon are inclined to, it diversified.
The Aeon became full of water and dirt and rock and air and mineral and Aether. As this Matter grew, so did the Space between the elements and the sympathies which bound them as they were all children of the first speck. The Time in which they existed grew as quickly, their duration became greater and greater.
They remained in harmony with one another, each occupying its own role, until at last the Space was full with the Matter of the Aeon. Rock was the center, and interspersed throughout the dirt. The dirt created the outer surface upon which the water rested. The water's skin kept the Aether furthest of all from the center - and soon the harmony was gone. In the early Times, the Matter began to shift and move within itself to rearrange this organization. Rock and dirt and water and Aether mixed, and the Aether slowly became the largest of these elements. As the Aether grew, it became hungry for Space to occupy. This marked the first signs of each arcanum's individual Mind beginning to develop.
Soon it came to pass that the Aether was able to petition the others for more. More Space, more Time, more elements within itself. It was refused. The Aether, as full of hubris as it was of a mad Mind, began duplicating the aspects of the arcana within itself in its own manner.
The others grew jealous, as Fate had known they would within Time. Working on the instructions of Fate, Space and Time divided Matter and Aether apart and forged a barrier to keep the Aether away for all Time. Separated from its other (material) brothers, the Aether became quite insane. It was the first of the Minds to grow, and the fastest, and the most diverse. Its despair over the solitude fractured it completely, creating duplicates of everything that had existed on the material side of the barrier in a vain attempt to retain the coherency that precisely this act cost it.
There existed now a great void separating all the material. There was still the same Space, but the absence of the Mad Aether created tremendous gaps between materials for the Space to flow into. The arcana discussed events, then asked Fate what was to happen. It was at this point that Fate told the First Lie.
A great conjunction of the Matter was to happen, a reforming of everything that existed, into the center of the Aeon. Space could contract, Time could dilate, Matter would congeal. Each of the arcana working by itself could not bring this about, nor could they cooperate enough to perform their task. Fate interceded and placed part of itself aside, then urged the rest to do so as well. Each of the arcana took a portion and combined it into a being not Space or Time or Matter or Fate or Mind, but made up of all of these. It was born mature, and called itself Prime. Having a consciousness nearly that of Mind and a memory nearly that of Time and almost a breadth from its Space parent and almost a physical existence from Matter, it began to pull.
The energy possessed by Prime was great, but even then it was not enough to perform the task. Fate decreed that it should birth more childer from the Arcana, and that these should give assistance to their parent. Light and heat and motion and sound were brought forth into the world. It was decided that these were all the same, and called Forces. Together, they pooled their might and began the material world toward the Great Conjunction.
Alas, clever Time was now mature enough to peer ahead within itself, and saw Forces becoming just as mad and fractured as the Mad Aether, and called a halt to the efforts of the others, leaving pieces of material and energy where they lay upon Space, forever slowly drifting.

Beginning of an Adventure...

This is what I am thinking for my Carthian, Daeva...

Sitting on the outcrop of rocks, her feet dangling over the side the girl stared straight into the furious storm that was rolling in off of the Atlantic Ocean and up past Kilcloogher Head.  The Mouth of the River Shannon was in a wild state of affairs, it was void of any Maritime activity.  Her heart sank once more.  Hair being tossed against her shoulders and face, the salt water mixing with her even saltier tears.

She wanted to be away from this place, even at the ripe young age of 12, she knew she had to leave.  It was a desperate place in desperate times.

The America's were on verge of war, and Ireland expressed it's amiability to Her plight.  Being struck down time and time again by the English…  Her mother, being Irish true and true was wed to an Englishman.  Though her family was well off, it did not make the disgrace of her heritage any lighter on her heart.  She and her family spent 6 months on the beautiful coasts of Ireland, and then 6 months in the heart of London.

This was their last night before traveling back to London, at a time when her older brother, Ernan was to wed a beautiful Spaniard, Pilar, in a fortnight.  This was exciting for her, as she had become good friends with Pilar's youngest brother – Estevan.  And, this would be the year that they began their grand adventure.  They were running away to become Pirates.
